dear cupertino high school,
this is appalling.
ms. tomberlain is an amazing principal. she cares very much about every single one of us, even the one who made these memes. she is so involved with all of us, learning our names, learning things about us, going to a lot of trouble to make sure our high school experiences are the best they can be. she wants to keep us safe, happy, and achieving as high as we can.
i don’t know about you guys, but i care what she thinks of me. i care whether i have her respect, because i respect her immensely. do you think her job is easy? no, definitely not. but she does it anyway. she comes to school everyday with the sole purpose of helping us, and she does so with a smile on her face and a “how are you?” for anyone who takes the time to say hi to her. even if she hasn’t had the opportunity to get to know someone, she’ll still wave if you grant her a smile or a nod.
ms. tomberlain came on the announcements right after powderpuff because we left our brand new field covered in trash. it was incredibly disrespectful for everyone to have left their litter for someone else to pick up. when people choose to leave their sandwich wrappers on the grass, it doesn’t just disappear. there are janitors who have to come clean up what we are too rude to throw away on our own. does it really kill you to take 10 seconds to walk 10 feet to throw away your lunch bag? no, it doesn’t. it’s common courtesy and neglecting to do so is ridiculous. ms. tomberlain came on the announcements to remind us that we have a responsibility to our school, to ourselves, to not be idiots and to clean up our trash.
as for being accused of ditching at tutorial, she’s just trying make sure everyone uses their tutorial effectively. how many people would ditch if they new there were no consequences? pretty much everyone, i’d say. we used to have free tutorials where we could go wherever we wanted, whether it was in a classroom or sitting in the quad. why did we lose that privilege? we abused it. people sat outside and did stupid things, so the admin decided that it would be beneficial to everyone if we had to go into a classroom where activities can be regulated slightly more. almost no one uses their tutorial effectively now, but at least now admin can make sure we’re safer. ms. tomberlain wants to make sure that we all are doing what we’re supposed to be doing during tutorial, and that’s all.
ms. tomberlain wants the best for everyone, and we repay her by making fun of her. and frankly, that’s just not cool.

Seriously, I completely agree with Ellen. Some people apparently can’t think past the attitude they’re given as the stereotypical high school attitude of “Authority is bad. Following the rules is stupid. YOLOYOLOYOLO”

at the same time “meme”-ing somebody isn’t always disrespectful- there’s “good guy greg” and “successful black man” for starters.
